OUR CULTIVATIONS
In 2012, we started ordering seeds and planted the first berry bushes on Ingarö. Each year, the cultivation, our interest in it, and our knowledge have grown bigger and bigger. Today, we grow berries and vegetables in two dozen raised beds, and our bushes and trees give us more than 20 different kinds of berries every summer.
In the spring of 2021, we were generously allowed to lease land to cultivate at Bergviks Gård on Ingarö, 5 minutes from our own garden. Here, we grow cabbage varieties, root vegetables, zucchini, eggplant, beans, tomatoes, herbs, lettuce, strawberries and wild strawberries in the open field, and of course, we plan the menu based on what is available.
In 2023, a nice little greenhouse was finally built in the courtyard at DoMa. There, we grow cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, and edible flowers.
In the autumn, mushroom picking in the Stockholm area and apple picking in the gardens of DoMa’s friends are regular weekend activities. This year’s harvest resulted in 182 liters of juice that will keep us self-sufficient for one year.
In winter, we only have preserved and frozen fruit and berries from Ingarö. Until spring and early summer begin, we buy fantastic vegetables from, among others, Mia at Lilla Labäck outside Lidköping and from Frida at Skilleby Trädgård outside Järna. On the menu, you can read more precisely about which ingredients are from our own cultivations right now.
